Merry Christmas to me! On Sunday Michael surprised me with an early present – a stained glass ornament class from Glassique, Seattle’s Architectural Glass Design Studio. Since it’s the season for ornaments, I quickly called to book my class so I could make my ornaments and use them this year.
In full disclosure, I was super nervous about the idea of cutting and fusing glass. I think that it was primary due to the fact that I knew nothing about how to cut, fuse and weld glass together. Thankfully though, I was lucky enough to have a 1:1 class/instructor and the attention made me feel relaxed and at ease.
The step-by-step process for how to create a stained glass ornament is more than I could remember, so I won’t be able to tell you how to do it… but, below are some pictures from my class that I snapped as I was going through each stage.
One last pitch for Glassique/stained-glass making that you may want to know…
If you book a class in the month of December (any class – and they have mosaic, intro to stained glass, ornaments, etc.) it’s only $40, and you can take that class at any time. It’s one heck of a deal – normally classes can run between $60-120. So if you think this sounds cool you may want to do it. I highly recommend it! I had a great time and “mastered” a craft I never thought I would ever do!
