Christmas in October? Yeah, Kinda…

Yeah, yeah, yeah…I know that it’s not even yet Halloween and I’m already talking about Christmas… but I had to share this great holiday ornament idea that Michael’s mom, Madeline, gave to me over the weekend – a teapot shaped ornament! It’s a great, easy Christmas present for family or friends and I really think anyone could execute successfully.

Now, I didn’t make this ornament – but I do plan on making my own as gifts this holiday season. And, here’s how I’d approach recreating the ornament:

Step 1: Find a pattern of a teacup or teapot you like, something roughly the shape of 2-3 inches.

Ornament shape – about 2″- find an easy traceable shape from an online image.

Step 2: Cut out the pattern. Secure to a piece of felt, trace and cut out the shape.

Step 3
: Repeat step 2, just with a different color of felt.

Step 4
: Cut out a 1/2 inch square.

Step 5
: Using a needle and thread or yarn (I suggest using a contrasting color), stitch three sides of square to the center of one of your felt teacups or teapots. Make sure to leave the top side of your square open or un-stitched.

Step 6: Sandwich both of your felt teacups or teapots together and stitch around the border.

Back of ornament, use felt or a fun contrasting fabric!

Step 7: Take a long ribbon and tie the ends together to form a circle, secure one end to the top of the teacup or teapot so you can hang it on the tree. Be sure to thread your cute teatime message into the ribbon loop before tying the ends together!

Add a cute message – like the one on the sample ornament!

Step 8: Add your teabag to the pocket of your teapot or teabag.
Step 9: Hang on your tree or give to a friend!
